Man guilty in father's, ex-wife's, friend's deaths

CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man has been found guilty of murder in connection with a 2009 crime spree that left his wife and former girlfriend dead and eventually claimed the life of his father.

James Amison was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 53-year-old James Johnson, his former girlfriend, 40-year-old Stephanie Reed, and his ex-wife, 38-year-old Tashika Smith.

Amison was accused of strangling Smith in her Steger home, shooting his father in Maywood and fatally shooting Reed in Chicago. Johnson was paralyzed from the neck down after being shot and died in 2011.

Prosecutors said the 40-year-old Amison was convinced his ex-wife was having an affair with his father.

Amison was arrested after being shot while trying to rob a Chicago strip club. His next court date is July 30
