Mo. National Guard unit to hold deployment ceremony in Park Hills

FARMINGTON, MO (KFVS) - The 1138th Engineer Company of the Missouri National Guard is holding a deployment ceremony on Saturday, July 7 in Park Hills.

The public and families are invited to honor the approximately 95 Citizen-soldiers of the 1138th as they depart for further mobilization training at Fort Bliss, Texas in preparation for their deployment in Afghanistan.

The deployment ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the Mineral Area College Field House in Park Hills, Missouri.

The unit - which draws Soldiers from the 1140th Engineer Battalion - has been undergoing extensive pre-mobilization training at Camp Clark in Nevada, MO since early June for their nine month mission.

Before the ceremony, the unit will conduct a company run in Farmington. This will begin at 7:30 a.m. at city hall.

1st Lt. Jason Davis, company commander, will present to Stuart Landrum, the mayor of Farmington, a 1138th Engineer Company Flag.

Family and friends are invited to attend the run and flag presentation.
