SEMO football hires new defensive back coach

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Southeast Missouri State University football team adds to its coaching staff after hiring Jake Dickert as its defensive backs coach Wednesday.

Prior to coming to Southeast, Dickert was a secondary coach and special teams coordinator at the University of South Dakota.

Before coaching at South Dakota, Dickert was a member of the coaching staff at North Dakota State for three years.

Dickert will have a talented group of defensive backs led by senior free safety Tyler Brock who had a breakout season in 2010 when he received First-team All Ohio Valley Conference honors and tied Southeast's school record with six interceptions.

The Redhawks will kick off its season Aug. 30 at Central Michigan.
