CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Robby Ross works for Dutch Enterprises. He and his co-workers have been extra busy since temperatures ramped up.

"I guess today it would be about six to seven calls per tech and we got 13 techs," said Ross "So it's pretty busy."

With triple digit temperatures in the near forecast, Ross doesn't see the workload slowing down anytime soon.

"I was on call Monday. I made nine calls on Monday," said Ross. "Usually, you do three to four if you get that."

Ross said there are some things you can do before he comes to your home.

"Check your filter," said Ross. "Make sure it's checked regularly."

Regularly means once a month, according to Ross.

Ross also recommends you maintain your outdoor unit.

"If their outside watering the garden or something, they could come out here with a water hose at a downward angle and stray all this dirt down," said Ross. "Don't spray straight in because you are just packing it back in there. Spray at a downward angle and clean these coils off."

If it's a bigger problem, call your provider but know repairs can range from $70 all the way up to $1,700.

Also, it may not be fixed as soon as you like because of the number of people in the same boat as you.
