MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a tanker truck crash on Interstate 24.
Keith Todd with The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the tanker caught fire and is blocking the westbound lanes of the interstate near the 16 mile marker.
Due to complications with removal of the trucks, the recovery crew is estimating I-24 Westbound at this crash site could remain closed until after 11 a.m. or longer
Traffic is being rerouted off the interstate at Exit 16.
Drivers will have to take US 68 Westbound to US 62 Westbound and then take KY 1954, also known as the John Puryear Drive, back to I-24 at Exit 11.
You are asked to avoid this area if at all possible.
