Round two of Amateur Championship ends with local talent on top

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Day two of the Missouri Amateur qualifier ended Wednesday with Cape Girardeau natives taking the top two spots.

Brevin Giebler leads all golfers with a seven under score and Brent Holmes who is also of Cape Girardeau is in 2nd place with a score of four under.

Mizzou golfer Jace Long also remained in top five after day two with a score of one under.

Other local talent in contention includes Popular Bluff's Trent Hillis and Carr Vernon.

Match play begins Thursday with the top 64 players.

    The SIU Football team gave Memphis all it could handle but fell at the end on the road 44-31. The Salukis took a 21-17 lead into halftime but couldn't get past the Tigers at the end.     Both Missouri and Kentucky lose home games in the SEC Saturday night. Auburn defeated Mizzou 51-14. Florida continued it's dominance over Kentucky with a 28-27 victory in Lexington.
