CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Southeast Missouri State University showed off some of the recent renovations at Academic Hall on Wednesday, June 20. The century old building is in the progress of being modernized to preserve the historic landmark.

"To be part of bringing back it is original appearance is just really fabulous," Paul Sedovic, project manager, said.

He also said the makeover is right on track.

"We are on schedule," Sedovic said. "I think we are about 25-30% complete on construction. The building will be completed late next spring so people in the building will be moving in during the summer of 2013 ready to start the fall of 2013 on campus that semester."

According to the university, the three primary goals of the Academic Hall renovation is to:

  • Replace failing infrastructure
  • Enhance the student experience
  • Honoring history while preparing for the future
