Local talent leads the way in Amateur Qualifier

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Amateur Championship Qualifier began Tuesday at the Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau.

The competition at the 18-hole golf course consisted of people of all ages.

After Round One the leader on the scoreboards was Cape Girardeau's own Brevin Giebler.

Giebler, 35, finished  with a score of three under.

Not far belong was Brent Holmes who is also from Cape Girardeau tied for second place with a score of one under.

Other notable local players of the day were Jackson Missouri's Tim Simmons who tied for 11th places with a score of two over, Trent Hillis of Popular Bluff tied for 13th with a score of three over and Ben Godwin also from Popular Bluff was tied for 19th with a score of four over.

Round two of the Amateur Qualifier continues Wednesday June 20 at the Dalhousie Golf Course.
