WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) -

A West Frankfort man is accused of grooming a 14-year-old girl into a sexual relationship through social media and texting.

Jeffrey A. Johnson, Jr., 22, is charged with grooming, which is a class 4 felony.

West Frankfort Police say Johnson and the teen met over Facebook. Police say the girl clearly indicated that she was 14 and that Johnson even acknowledged the fact in electronic communication.

Police say the Facebook contact led to private messages on Facebook and eventually texting on cell phones.

Police say Johnson sent numerous texts with a sexual nature and made numerous texts for nude photos from the 14-year-old girl.

Investigators posed as the 14 year old during the investigation and police say Johnson immediately asked for nude pictures and to meet the 14 year old for a sexual encounter.

The investigator, posing as the 14 year old, referenced that she was only 14.  Police say Johnson continued the sexual conversation and his desire for her to maintain their relationship as a secret.

Johnson was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Jail.
