Ill. Internet job board matches workers with employers

MARION, IL (KFVS) -

An Internet job board is getting rave reviews from southern Illinois businesses.

Southern Illinois businesses Friday joined state officials praising an employment website tool that links qualified job applicants with businesses that are ready to hire.

"The path to re-employment goes through IllinoisJobLink.com. Today, businesses across our state seek to fill more than 100,000 positions," said Jay Rowell, the director of the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

. "Here, in and around Marion, there are more than 3,200 available jobs. In my mind, that means there are more than 3,200 reasons to be optimistic."

A sampling of Marion-area job opportunities include outside sales representative, industrial safety engineer, nursing, heating and air conditioning, project management and welding. Each position is expected to include wages of at least $40,000 annually.

Business leaders from Pepsi Mid-America, Heartland Regional Hospital, Priority Staffing and Penn Aluminum joined Rowell Friday. Each uses Illinois JobLink and other IDES re-employment and tax incentive services.

According to a press release, Illinoisjoblink.com is a no-cost employment website that matches business job orders and resumes. This allows individuals to create multiple resumes to emphasize different talents and allows businesses to search for specific skills and other criteria.
