Ky. inmate captured after escape from Calloway County Jail

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Mayfield, Ky. man was put back behind bars after police say he made a brief jail escape Thursday night.

According to Kentucky State police, Bradley Watkins, 21, of Mayfield walked away from the Callaway County Jail around 10:30 Thursday night.

About the same time, Murray police got a report of a stolen van from a local restaurant.

Just before 11, a police officer noticed a suspicious man walking in Mayfield. It turns out, it was Watkins.

Officers say Watkins also had the keys to Bad Bob's Barbecue Restaurant's van that were found at a local store.

Watkins was serving time for auto theft, multiple burglaries, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.

He faces new charges of escape.

The investigation is continuing.
