DED says Mo.'s unemployment rate held steady, lower than national rate

MISSOURI (KFVS) -

The Missouri Department of Economic Development released data Tuesday that says the state of Missouri's unemployment rate held steady during the month of May.

The state's unemployment rate stayed at a seasonally-adjusted 7.3 percent, which the DED says is a 41-month low.

Missouri's unemployment rate continues to be significantly lower than the national rate. During the month of May, the DED says the U.S. rate increased to 8.2 percent.

According to the DED, the total non-farm payroll employment fell by 7,300 in Missouri during the month of May. Through the first five months of 2012, however, the state has added 24,700 new jobs.
