Atlanta Braves draft pitcher from Kennett High School

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Atlanta Braves added another Southeast Missouri native to their 2012 draft class when they selected Adam Grantham with the 989th pick in the 32nd round Wednesday evening.

As a senior at Kennett High School, Grantham had a 1.56 ERA in 36 innings and threw 53 strikeouts as a pitcher.

In addition to good pitching, Grantham also made his presence felt behind the plate as the 6-foot pitcher had a batting average of .531 and 41 RBI's this past season.

Prior to the draft, Grantham had already committed to play at Arkansas State University under coach Tommy Raffo next season.

Another drafted player in Wednesday's draft includes Alec Mills from UT Martin who the Kansas City Royals drafted in the 22nd round.

The deadline for recently drafted players to sign a contract is July 13.
