Watch for the Transit of Venus Tuesday evening

(KFVS) -
You'll want to check out the sun this evening for the last Transit of Venus in our lifetime.

Venus will cross paths between the sun and the Earth.

You'll see a tiny dot floating across the surface of the sun for several hours.

Watch Tuesday night at 5:05 p.m. through sunset, but make sure to use the right protection.

Best way to observe is through a #13 or #14 shade welding glass.

Conditions look perfect for viewing tonight as clear skies are expected.

The Transit of Venus has happened only seven times since the telescope was invented, according to NASA's Fred Espenak.

The last time was in 2004, but the western United States was unable to view it.

NASA has a live video feed of the Transit of Venus.
