4 injured in crash on I-24 near Ky. end of Ohio River Bridge

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

According to transportation officials, lanes are back open after a multi-vehicle crash on I-24 just off the Kentucky end of the Ohio River Bridge.

A two vehicle crash on I-24 just off the bridge happened around 12:20 p.m. Thursday.  in an area where a mowing crew had support vehicles for litter pickup operations.

A 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Tammy Knight, 43, of Gilbertsville was traveling east on I-24. Knight was distracted by children arguing in the vehicle and drifted off the left side of the road into an unoccupied vehicle parked on the shoulder. The vehicle on the shoulder had its emergency equipment on and had amber strobes on top as there were workmen doing maintenance on the roadside, according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.

Knight and two of her passengers were transported to Baptist Hospital: James York, 14, and Jada Coons, 4, of Paducah. Another passenger Breanna York, 10, of Paducah was taken to Lourdes.

Knight was cited for operating a vehicle without insurance 1st.

One lane was shut down but it was opened back up around 2 p.m. after the crash site was cleared.

The crash was blocking the eastbound lanes and one westbound lane.  However, one westbound lane was open.

It was in McCracken County at mile point 0.0.
