Preservationist worried about 200 year old home's future

STE. GENEVIEVE, MO (KFVS) - In Saint Genevieve, Mo. a localpreservationist is concerned about the condition of a 200 year old home on MainStreet.

The Antoine O'Neille housewas built in 1810 and is said to be home of one of the state's first silversmiths.

The First Presbyterian Churchowns the building which was damaged by fire about 30 years ago, and we're toldis infested with termites.

No word on what the churchhas planned with the structure, but one man's convinced the church wants tearit down and put up a parking lot.

"There needs to be anintervention, and a structural intervention on an emergency basis," saidPreservationist Tim Conley. "Not six months from now, but immediately, they need to get into that house with a contractor and do things to reinforcethe structure so it doesn't collapse."

Efforts to reachsomeone at the church today were unsuccessful.
