JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - More than 100 people gathered for a Memorial Day service in Jackson to honor those who gave their all for our country.
The Jackson Municipal Band provided music for the ceremony and Kenneth Bender, a WWII veteran spoke.
Those in attendance say it's important we all pause to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
"Our next generation must understand what our past generations, World War Two and Vietnam and everyone else has gone through to make sure that they are free today," said David Ludwig, commander of American Legion Post 158. "And that they can enjoy all the freedoms that many countries will never ever have the opportunity to observe."
This service was one of several going on around the Heartland.
