Tonight on Heartland News: A sad story out of southern Illinois today. Authorities are investigating the drowning death of a Franklin County teenager last night.

There were several drownings reported last year in Franklin County. Arnold Wyrick talked to authorities today about what you can do to stay safe around the water this Memorial Day weekend.

The US Coast Guard and several agencies have responded to a report of a sinking barge on the Tennessee River today. It is at the construction site for the New US 60 Tennessee River Bridge between Paducah and Ledbetter.

Heavy rains last spring washed out roads near Lake Wappapello last spring. Beaches at the lake were underwater, but the lake was re-opened to the public.  We will show how things have changed around the popular body of water since last year.
