Illinois park rangers say to keep camp fires small

With the dry and hot conditions, park rangers in Illinois are asking campers to keep fires small.

They also want campers to only use fire pits at campsites.

Memorial Day weekend is typically the official start of the summer camping season for many people.

The campground at Crab Orchard Lake has been full since it opened on Friday morning.

The park ranger tells Heartland News that campers were lined up for the limited spots as early as Thursday night.
