2 injured in morning motorcycle crash in Johnson County, Illinois

TUNNEL HILL, IL (KFVS) -

Two people were injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday morning near Tunnel Hill.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Tunnel Hill Road east of Bowman Bottoms Road.

Jackie D. Wharry, 59, of Zeigler, was driving a 2003 Honda Shadow motorcycle.  He and his passenger, Rebecca L. Wharry, 57, also of Zeigler, were eastbound  in the 'S' curves when Wharry lost control and hit an embankment. 

Jackie Wharry received serious injuries and was taken to Deaconess Hospital by AirEvac.  Rebecca Wharry also received serious injuries and was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center by Johnson County Ambulance. 

Troopers say neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing helmets.
