SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - One person was killed in an overnight crash in Sikeston, Missouri.
According to Lt. Jim McMillen with Sikeston DPS, it happened around 12:26 a.m. at 105 Jackson in Sikeston.
McMillen says the large SUV was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck a tree in the front yard of 105 Jackson.
According to DPS, investigators are looking into factors that suggest alcohol may have contributed to the crash. No charges have been filed.
According to DPS, Deputy Coroner James Donner pronounced Ulysses "C.C." Neal, IV, 23, dead at the scene. Neal was a front passenger in the SUV.
"He was a very awesome, unique guy," said Jessica Jones, a friend of the victim. "He liked to make jokes, laugh all the time. He was a good father. He has children. I want to send prayers out to the Neal family. Ulysses was a very sweet person."
The driver, Derek Hall received critical injuries. A passenger Joseph Brown also received critical injuries. Another passenger, Corey Herrion received moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Scott County Coroner Scott Amick was notified and the Deputy Coroner responded.
McMillian says nobody was wearing their seat belt.
DPS is still investigating the incident.
At this time the exact cause of the crash isn't fully known.
The family of the deceased was notified shortly after the crash.
