Murphysboro man taken into custody after pursuit

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - A Murphysboro man faces various charges after a police chase Friday afternoon.

Michael Miles , 33, of Murphysboro was charged with passing in a no passing zone, driving while license suspended, fleeing and eluding a peace officer and obstructing justice.

Deputies say they tried to stop Miles' car around 1:25 p.m. Friday after he passed in a no passing zone on Bridge Street west of Williams Street in Murphysboro.

Miles allegedly failed to yield after police turned on their lights and siren. He then continued on Mulberry Street.

Several other law enforcement then responded.

He was stopped around 15th and Short Street and taken into custody.

Miles was taken to the Jackson County Jail pending a bond hearing.
