Ark. man accused of armed robbery, assault in Steele

STEELE, MO (KFVS) -

An Arkansas man was taken into custody after an alleged armed robbery Thursday in Steele.

It happened on South Walnut Street.

According to Steele police, they found a 33-year-old man from Steele who was bleeding from a cut on the head.

The victim told police he was approached by a 25-year-old man from Blytheville, Ark. who hit him on top of the head with a gun and took his money.  The victim told police he knew the suspect.

Blytheville police and the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office were told about the incident and they later found the suspect.

Arkansas law enforcement found the gun that was believed to have been used in the robbery.

According to police, the 25-year-old suspect faces charges of armed robbery, armed criminal action, and assault with the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Office.

His name is not being released until charges are filed.

The suspect was taken to the Mississippi County Jail and later to Pemiscot County.

Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield would like to thank the Pemiscot Sheriff's Department, Blytheville Police Department and the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department.
