Carbondale shooting suspect arrested

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A man accused of shooting another man Tuesday night was arrested Wednesday night.

It happened around 7:25 p.m. in the area of East Chestnut Street at North Robert A. Stalls Avenue.

A $500,000 arrest warrant charging Maurice L. Cooper, 23, of the 200 block of East Larch Avenue in Carbondale for aggravated battery with a firearm was issued.

Police say Cooper should be considered armed and dangerous.

Right now, it's not clear what lead up to the shooting but we do know paramedics rushed a male victim to a St. Louis hospital.

Investigators are not saying how badly the victim was hurt.  They will only say that the victim is still alive.

Police say the incident was a personal dispute between Cooper and the victim who are acquaintances.
