CHAFFEE, MO (KFVS) - For people who waited all evening to find out who will take over the Chaffee Police Department, that wait just got a little longer.
At the end of a City Council meeting Monday night city leaders announced that they will not say who's taking over the top cop position in the city for another 72 hours.
The city council made that announcement after a closed session meeting Monday.
Earlier in the day Mayor Steve Loucks told Heartland News the City Council would vote on a permanent police chief during that closed door meeting.
Ousted Chief Jim Chambers is in the running for the position.
Chambers was removed from his job after allegedly covering up the killing of dogs in town.
He was never charged with a crime.
There are other candidates also in the running for the position.
