PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah man has been arrested after Paducah police say he had an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Sammy E. Montgomery, a Paducah Middle School softball coach, was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. Monday at his home on Jefferson Street.
Montgomery, 27, is charged with third-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse.
A woman called police Monday morning after learning her daughter, a PMS student, had been involved in a relationship with Montgomery, according to the Paducah Police Department.
Investigators interviewed the girl, who confirmed she and Montgomery had carried on a relationship for several months, and had sex about a month ago.
In addition to coaching softball, Montgomery volunteers with other activities at the school. Montgomery met the girl through school activities, according to the Paducah Police Department.
Montgomery was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
