Rockford airshow to include Predator drone

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - An airport in northern Illinois will have a Predator Drone on display during an airshow next month.

Chicago Rockford International Airport says the pilotless aircraft will be part of a static display at the 2012 Rockford AirFest. The event is held from June 2-3.

Airport officials say the airshow will be 1 of only three in the country to ever display a Predator.

The CIA's clandestine drone program has used armed Predators to target militants in places like Yemen and the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

A crew of 6 technicians will accompany the drone and assemble it in Rockford. The aircraft will be under strict security restrictions.

The B-52, another rare airshow display, will also be featured at AirFest to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the long-range bomber.
