CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) - Mississippi County authorities hope to learn more about a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a Charleston man.

An autopsy will be conducted Saturday in Farmington to learn more about the death of 34-year-old George Moore, Jr., and possibly about who pulled the trigger.

According to the Charleston Department of Public Safety, police received a report of shots fired near Vine and Finney Streets around 3:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Moore with an apparent gunshot wound. He died on the scene.

Robert Hearnes, the Director of the Charleston Department of Public Safety said the Department of Public Safety, the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, and the Missouri Highway Patrol are investigating.

Hearnes said they're looking to see if this shooting is connected to recent shootings in the area.

"Right now we're looking for suspects, trying to see if it's related to the other shootings the last few days, the biggest thing we need right now is cooperation from the public," said Hearnes.
