2 men shot in Charleston

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Two people were injured in a shooting in Charleston Monday morning.

Charleston Police say it happened about 10:30 a.m. near Vine Street and Lee Street.

Eric Dowell, 31 and Dwight Robinson, 56, both sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to area medical facilities for treatment.

Police say an initial investigation indicates that someone was shooting at Eric Dowell, and that Robinson was struck by a stray bullet.

Police did not say where the victims were shot, but witnesses and a Williams Funeral Home employee says one person was shot in the back of the head and ran to the funeral home about a block away from the scene for help.

Police Chief Robert Hearnes said this appears to be related to other shooting calls they have recently received, but the victim is not cooperating, and no witnesses have come forth.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Charleston Department of Public Safety at (573) 683-3737.

The victim's car was towed from the scene.

Police did not release any information on a possible suspect.
