Shawneetown man, woman cited in DUI crash

OLD SHAWNEETOWN, IL (KFVS) -

Troopers say a Shawneetown driver was cited for DUI and other charges after an overnight crash.  A passenger in the car is accused of giving alcohol to a minor.

It happened around 1 a.m. Sunday on Old Route 13, just west of Poplar Street in Old Shawneetown.

Zachary S. Holloway, 20, of Shawneetown was cited for DUI, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, improper lane usage, no proof of insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol, expired registration sticker and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Lacey D. Jones, 25, of Shawneetown, a passenger in the car, was cited for delivery of alcohol to a person under the age of 21, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt.

According to Illinois State Police, Holloway was eastbound on Old Route 13 when for unknown reasons he left the south side of the road and overturned.

Holloway was taken by EMS to an Eldorado hospital with injuries.  He was later taken to an Evansville, Indiana hospital for further treatment.

Jones was taken by EMS to an Eldorado hospital with injuries.

Troopers say Holloway and Jones were not wearing seat belts.
