Man arrested after police say he robbed man for beer money

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - A Cape Girardeau man is charged with robbery after police say he threatened a man to give him money for beer.

Kerry Glen Maurer, 30, of Cape Girardeau is charged with 2nd degree robbery.

Maurer was at female friend's home in the 200 block of South Hanover when the victim who is also an acquaintance came over on May 4.

Cape Girardeau Police say Maurer asked the victim for money to buy beer which the victim gave him. Later, police say Maurer asked for more money for beer and the victim refused, but was assaulted by Maurer.

Afterward the alleged assault, police say Maurer told the victim to give him the money in his pockets or he would hit him with a metal pipe that was in the floor nearby.

The victim gave Maurer all his money.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
