MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) -

A Mayfield man is accused of taking jewelry from a home and then reselling it.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, Michael E. Greene, 23, of Mayfield was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and tampering with physical evidence.

Authorities say the victim called the sheriff's office about some items missing from a home two miles south of Mayfield on April 16 and again on April 30.

Two suspects were identified that had been doing odd jobs around the home, according to Capt. Jeremy Prince.

When Greene was asked by authorities at the sheriff's office about the thefts, he confessed to taking jewelry and selling it to a gold buyer, according to Prince.

Greene was charged with tampering because he allegedly destroyed some of the jewelry after discovering he was a suspect in the case.

Authorities say more arrests are expected in the next week.

Greene was taken to the Graves County Jail.
