CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Three of the people facing charges in the shooting of a Missouri trooper on Interstate 55 headed to court on Friday.
In a preliminary hearing Friday morning, the judge ruled there's enough evidence to move ahead with the case.
Tonya Brown, Jermaine Dennis, and Maurice Ely, all of Texas, were charged with 2nd degree murder and possession of marijuana, after what the Missouri Highway Patrol says was a routine traffic stop went bad.
In March, Corporal Shane Stewart was called in to assist after the suspect's car was pulled over on Interstate 55.
That's when one of the passengers allegedly shot Stewart, that man was killed when officers returned fire.
One other suspect was injured, Corporal Stewart is recovering.
They are due back in court on May 22.
