MARION, IL (KFVS) - The Miners baseball team been a part of the southern Illinois community for the past six years, and many are happy the team came to Marion.
It's been six years since the first pitch was thrown out here at Rent One Park in Marion. And not only has it been a home run for baseball fans. City leaders in Marion say they've also scored since the ballpark came to town.
The Hill is certainly the hub of the city of Marion.
And Rent One Park is the crown sitting atop The Hill.
Since the ball park was built, there's been a bank, new hotels, department stores and restaurants to set up shop on The Hill.
And there is even more room for future businesses.
The move to place Rent One Park and it's Miners on The Hill wasn't an accident.
They were set there to attract business and growth for Marion and the region.
"There's all kinds of stuff going on out there," said George Trammell, President & CEO Marion Chamber Of Commerce. "So they've been a tremendous asset to Marion. And well worth the investment that the city of Marion and state of Illinois put in there for economic development for southern Illinois."
The next business to call Marion and The Hill home will be Logan's Steakhouse.
And the city of Marion isn't slowing down, in fact they're on the move.
