Suspicious fires investigated in Charleston

CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Charleston Police are investigating two suspicious fires from the last couple of weeks.

Charleston Police Chief Robert Hearnes says two vacant house have burned and they suspect arson.

Chief Hearnes believes the two homes were intentionally set.

One home was at West Commercial and Heggie Street.  Hearnes says that home was actually set on fire twice.

The other home on Depot burned Sunday night.

A third vacant building also burned recently on Elm Street.  It was once a home and also a store at one time.  Police are investigating that fire as well, but feel it may not be connected because there was some condensation on the structure they believe could have contributed to a fire.  However, they are not ruling out it could also have been intentionally set.

The fire locations are fairly close together.

Police have no suspects at this time.

Police are asking for information as they work to find whoever is responsible for the fires.
