ST. LOUIS (AP) - An Illinois man has been identified as the person who died when a large beer tent collapsed during a storm Saturday near Busch Stadium.
St. Louis police spokeswoman Schron Jackson identified the victim as 58-year-old Alfred Goodman of Waterloo, Ill. Jackson didn't provide a cause of death.
Goodman was killed after a wind gust destroyed the tent adjacent to Kilroy's Sports Bar just before 4 p.m. Saturday. Officials say 17 others were taken to local hospitals.
A spokesman for St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay's office says the gust was over 70 mph. The wind shattered the aluminum poles holding up the tent and blew it onto nearby railroad tracks.
The St. Louis Cardinals held a moment of silence for the victims prior to Sunday's game against Milwaukee.
