A church congregation is upset after someone steals from them twice.
Samuel Griffin, the Chief Steward at the Mount Sinai Missionary Methodist Church in Butler County said he was mowing the yard Friday morning, when he noticed two air conditioning units gone.
He said the church has two other units, which appeared that the thieves were trying to steal them too, since the wires were clamped and cut.
Griffin said between the units stolen, and the ones damaged, he estimated almost a $10,000 dollar loss.
Griffin said this is the second time the church has been hit. He said a few years ago someone stole an air conditioning unit, and broke into the church's kitchen.
He said he thinks someone is stealing to make money off the copper inside the units.
He said they feel hurt by the thefts.
"It's very painful to have a small church and then somebody take advantage of you," said Griffin. "I think anybody that will steal from The church they're gonna steal from anybody."
Griffin said it's a congregation of about 30 members, and had been around since the forties. But he said recently they took four years to build a new structure.
Griffin said they filed an insurance claim, but want to see justice.
If you have any information on the thefts, you're urged to call authorities.
