BENTON, IL (KFVS) -

A tree still threatens to crush the home of an elderly Benton, Illinois couple.

Monnie and Wayne Hall say a lineman out of Creal Springs came by Thursday night and attempted to secure the giant branches of the tree trunk that's split, and it could fall on their home at any moment.

Meanwhile, the owner of a tree removal company out of southeast Missouri who saw our story Thursday night says they will assess the tree Friday afternoon to see if he can help the couple.

The couple fears one strong gust of wind could cause the giant oak to crush their home.
