MARTIN, TN (KFVS) - A former University of Tennessee at Martin student was arrested Tuesday night and is accused of making a threats to two people.
Maxwell T. Williams, 20, of Yorkville was arrested around 7 p.m. near the Bolding University Center before a planned assault could be carried out against a former girlfriend and her male friend, according to Bud Grimes, Office of University Relations.
Grimes says Maxwell Williams is facing several charges in connection to the incident.
Williams faces illegal weapon on campus, aggravated stalking, reckless endangerment and
possession of prohibited weapon. All of which are felony charges.
Also, Grimes says Williams had several weapons on him which included a sword and several Molotov Cocktail bombs.
According to university relations, DPS was notified by the female who is a UT Martin student, that threats were made by Williams to her and a male friend, also a current UT Martin student.
According to Grimes, Williams was stopped in a university parking lot and items observed in the vehicle that indicated a viable threat.
University relations say the vehicle and immediate area were secured, and Williams was arrested.
University officials decided not to issue a timely warning alert, Grimes said, as the situation was quickly controlled and no continuous imminent danger was posed to the campus or community.
