COPY-Jackson County judge confirmed for federal bench

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Jackson County Circuit Judge Brian C. Wimes is moving to the Missouri federal bench.

The U.S. Senate confirmed Wimes' appointment on Monday.

The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/Juml2r ) Wimes' appointment was approved by a 92-1 vote.

Wimes joined the Jackson County Circuit Court in 2001 as a drug court commissioner. Gov. Matt Blunt appointed him to the circuit bench in 2007. He also worked as an assistant prosecutor for Jackson County.
