One man is dead and another is shot in Palmersville after a shootout in Weakley County, Tennessee.
Weakley County Coroner Rick Workman says Roy McAlpin, 64, was shot and killed Friday morning.
Workman says McAlpin was shot at his small engine repair shop at 447 Harrison Road. Police received a 911 call 10:07 a.m.
Another man, Oren Willis, was found with a gunshot wound just a few miles south of the shop. Workman says Willis was shot in the left side of the chest. Willis is in his late 60s from Dresden.
Workman says Willis drove south from the repair shop three or four miles until he stopped at 7969 Hwy. 89 and collapsed. Neighbors in the area found the man and thought he was having a heart attack.
First responders found he had a gunshot wound. Willis was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital.
Workman says the shooting may be over a longstanding disagreement over parts and it is unclear who may have shot who first.
James Bynum has lived in the area his entire life, and says it's a peaceful community.
"It was real shocking, real shocking that such a thing had happened," said Bynum.
He says he worked with McAlpin, and can't believe what happened.
"A good friend of ours, he worked on our equipment this week, off and on all week, and you wouldn't want any nicer a fella to be around," said Bynum. " He was always accommodating to everyone that I knew of, and he worked on equipment stuff, he worked on mowers."
Authorities do not know details yet as to who shot who.
