Sod being laid for future football field at Kelly Schools

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Parents and students from Kelly School District and members of the Missouri National Guard took advantage of the weather to install sod on the new football field.

Don't expect to see any varsity games just yet. That won't happen until 2014.

However the junior varsity team will hit the new gridiron in August 2012.

Kelly High School hasn't had football since 1957.

"We are super excited," said Kenneth Riedinger, Athletic Director and Football Coach. "This is kind of the holy grail of football to be able to build it from the ground up and get to do it your way. I think as a community people are finally excited to get football in Kelly."

Future players and the community can't wait for that first Friday under the lights.
