Southeast Missouri State University announced its new athletic director Thursday afternoon.
Mark Alnutt will be the new athletic director. The Kansas City native will begin his duties at Southeast around May 21.
According to the university, Alnutt has been serving as senior associate athletics director for administration at the University of Missouri after spending three years as the associate athletics director for administration.
He spent 14 years there in various positions and was a former football player for the Tigers.
In a quote released to the university, Mike Alden, director of athletics at the University of Missouri, said, "I think Southeast Missouri State University is getting a terrific leader in Mark Alnutt. We will miss him here, but our loss is Southeast's gain and all of us here are very proud of Mark and all that he has accomplished."
He was named the new athletic director after a several month search.
Interim Director of Athletics Cindy Gannon took over this past July after John Shafer retired following two and a half years on the job.
