Murphysboro Police look for hit and run suspect with kid in car

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

Murphysboro Police are looking for a car that left the scene of a crash Wednesday evening.

Theresa Strack, 51, of Murphysboro was westbound on Walnut Street Wednesday when a light colored four-door vehicle entered the intersection from S. 19th Street and hit her vehicle as it passed.

The suspect vehicle was reportedly driven by a black male with a black female passenger.  Witnesses say a small child was also in a car seat in the back of the car and was thrown forward and hit the back of the front seats during the impact.

The suspect's vehicle went north on 19th Street.  It may possibly have damage to the front driver's side area and be leaking fluid.

It is not known if the driver, passenger, or small child are injured.

Strack declined medical attention on the scene and was able to drive away.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Murphysboro Police Department at 618-684-2121.
