PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Traffic is back to normal on Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County this morning. A fiery overnight crash involving two tractor trailer rigs shut down southbound traffic for about four hours.
Troopers say the crash happened around 12:30 this morning at mile marker 15. The two semi trucks collided. One of the rigs flipped and caught fire.
Troopers shut down the southbound lanes of I-55 as emergency crews worked the wreck. Due to clean-up, the lanes were not reopened until 4:30 this morning.
The drivers of both trucks were hurt, but according to the Missouri Highway Patrol their injuries are not life threatening. Ramiz Northland, 46, of Raymond, Iowa, is in a Memphis hospital with moderate injuries. Zdravko Trifonov, 58, of Chicago, was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital.
