CLARKTON, MO (KFVS) - The City of Clarkton is missing a group of firefighters Tuesday, after they allegedly walked away from their positions Monday night.
One person says the group left the volunteer fire department over who will be the new chief.
One of the former firefighters says the group has no hard feelings towards anyone at the department, but it's just something they had to do.
People that live in Clarkton have mixed feelings how this will affect their safety.
"They're nice people, I think they'll come back, I think the city's safe, and I think anytime there's an emergency I think they'll all come together and do what they do best," said Richard Reynolds of Clarkton.
"I think its sad, and I do feel unsafe we don't have enough men taking care of us, watching us, so I don't feel safe," said Mary Hart of Clarkton.
People in Clarkton say they hope the department will be able to work out any disagreement, and think those firefighters will eventually come back to the fire department.
People in town say they think if there was a fire in the city, any surrounding communities would help out the Clarkton Volunteer Fire Department.
