Southern gospel singer from Piedmont dies

PIEDMONT, MO (KFVS) - A southern gospel musician from Wayne County passed away on April 13.

Glendall "Booge" Twidwell, 77, died at Barnes Hospital on April 13, 2012.

Twidwell was a member of and minister of music at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Piedmont for more than 50 years.

He served as Wayne County Clerk until 1998 when he retired with 36 years of service, which at the time was a record in the State of Missouri.

He was also active in many state and local organizations some of which were Past President of Missouri Association of Counties; Past President of Missouri County Clerks Association and Election Authorities; Wayne County Senate 40 Board for Sheltered Workshop; 32nd degree Mason at Masonic Lodge #526, Piedmont, MO; member of gospel singing groups The Twidwell Family, Ozark Harmony Boys and The Twidwell's; and recipient of Mid America Gospel Music Association 2009 Life Time Achievement Award.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Ruegg Funeral Homes in Piedmont.

The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Piedmont. Burial will be in Greenville City Cemetery in Greenville, Mo.
