5 injured after pickup goes off road, hits trees

WAYNE COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Five people were injured overnight after a pickup truck ran off the road and hit some trees.  One man received serious injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Route B, 1 1/2 miles west of Route U in Wayne County, Missouri.

According to the Highway Patrol, Matthew K. Trainer, 18, of Kennett was driving the Chevy Silverado on Route B and ran off the right side of the road hitting several trees.

Troopers say five people were injured:

Carrie E. Adams, 18, of Piedmont received moderate injuries.

Samuel K. Carroll, 20 of Piedmont received moderate injuries.

Ryan J. Hicks, 22, of Piedmont received serious injuries.

Ashley D. Shelton, 22, of Piedmont received moderate injuries.

Christina M. Sullivan, 16, of Patterson received moderate injuries.

Hicks was taken by Air Evac to a St. Louis hospital.  The rest of the injured were taken by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

Troopers say no seat belts were worn during the crash.  The truck was totaled.
