CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau firefighters make an overnight water rescue.
The Technical Response Team was called out around 1:45 a.m. to the flood wall along the Mississippi River just behind the Isle of Capri Casino construction site.
Firefighters say someone climbed up the flood wall and fell into a large drainage pipe.
Officials say the victim fell about 30 feet. Someone else then called 9-11 and crawled down there to help the injured person.
When the Technical Response Team arrived, they set up a system of ropes, pulleys and rescue baskets to carefully hoist the two people out of the pipe to safety.
Firefighters say the fall victim may have suffered some broken bones due to the fall. The person was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.
According to firefighters, the victim may have been trying to get a better look at the casino construction by climbing up the river wall when he or she fell.
The victim's name has not been released.
