CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau Police are investigating an attempted bank robbery.

According to Cape Girardeau officer Darin Hickey, police were called to the U.S. Bank branch at 3060 William around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Employees told police a black male, 30-35 years old, about 6' tall, 180 lbs, wearing a blue shirt with white stripes, dark jeans, and white hat came into the bank and approached a teller.

The suspect handed a note to the teller demanding money.

The suspect left the bank on foot.  He was last seen walking behind the shopping center east of the bank.

Witnesses say the suspect got in the passenger seat of a late model grey or bronze four door Hyundai Sonata.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was also possibly a black male.

No one was hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 573-335-6621.
